Introducing Return to the Sock Drawer
I couldn’t be more excited about today’s post because I get to announce a brand-new project from Story Sage Games! Let me tell you about Return to the Sock Drawer.
Back during our winter marketing push, I spent hours every day on social media content, marketing results, and welcoming new folks into our community. It was exciting, but I missed the creative side of SSG.
I had been sitting on an idea for about a year for a light-hearted, one-page TTRPG about what happens to socks that get lost in the dryer. I love games that take a goofy topic to its most ridiculous logical conclusion. I jotted down a few notes, intending to come back to it later, but after a couple hours I had a full first draft of Return to the Sock Drawer.
After balancing out the archetypes and getting feedback from friends and family, I was ready to lay out the game. The obvious choice for the job was Julie-Anne Muñoz (Jam) who is an incredibly talented artist and graphic designer. Soon you’ll see her work on our project Ampliterra: Echoes of the Rift, and you’ve already seen her brilliant design in our company logo. Her work on her recent game, Dinocar, had me particularly excited. I love her use of whimsical graphics and lots of color. Jam also has incredible range…which is evident in the wildly different SSG projects she’s worked on.
Jam knocked it out of the park, of course. The final product is colorful, organized, and incredibly silly (the pigeon wizard is probably my favorite)!
Today, we’re launching Return to the Sock Drawer…for free! If you’re already on our email list, you received a copy in today’s email, but you can also head to the link below to download it.
If you want to take your character creation to the next level, check out some of the balancing math from the design process below. You can pick a high-volatility archetype for maximum drama or pick a more manageable middle-of-the-road archetype.
I can’t wait to hear about the games folks play with this TTRPG. Tell me in the comments about your character!
Yours in silliness,
Austin
